Real Impact, Real People
Meet Bongumusa Mabaso, a powerful example of Mondi South Africa’s community impact. Through our Christmas Box Programme, he was one of over 1,600 vulnerable children supported annually. Later, he received a bursary via the Rural Education Access Programme, joining more than 100 rural learners empowered through education. Bongumusa’s story reflects our deep commitment to the communities around our mills, forests, and production sites.

Empowering Future Leadership
Many young South Africans live in marginalised areas where unemployment, lack of education and crime rates are high. Mondi South Africa’s INGWE initiative aims to provide opportunities for young people by encouraging positive relationships and strengthening their leadership skills. Mondi’s community development facilitators have been trained in basic youth work and mentoring skills to act as mentors.
Social activities include sports tournaments, spelling and debating clubs, after school classes, environmental protection and participation in local decision-making, all designed to steer young people away from crime and violence and help them develop life and work skills.
Our goal is to provide pathways away from crime and toward leadership, education, and opportunity.
